Marseille has two metro (underground/subway) lines. M1, the blue line, runs roughly east to west and back in a broad loop.
M2, the red line, runs roughly north to south.
Both have stops at the main train station, Marseille Saint Charles, and they also intersect further south at Castellane.
They are criss-crossed by a network of over 30 bus routes and two tram lines.

The system is clean, cheap, regular and fully integrated, and the good news for summer visitors is that it is all air-conditioned.
Announcements in the metro are now made in English as well as in French.
Since April 2013, the metro service has been extended.
Trains now run until 1.00am all through the week and some bus and tram routes run until midnight-1.00am.

The RTM (La Régie des Transports de Marseille, or Marseille Transport Authority) offers a bewildering range of tickets and tarifs.
Full details are available on the RTM website (in French only).
There follows a summary of the best ones for visitors.
A single-journey ticket (ticket solo) can be bought on board the buses, and from machines at metro and tramway stops or from an accredited vendor.
As with most urban transport systems, the tickets are cheaper if you buy them beforehand, either in a metro station or accredited outlet, than if you get them as you board the bus.
One ticket solo allows unlimited travel for one hour, with the restriction of one metro journey. There is also a two-journey ticket which offers the same rate per trip.
The Carte 10 Voyages is slightly cheaper: it offers ten journeys and the same card can be used by several people travelling together.
Also good value are the one-day and three-day passes allowing unlimited travel on the RTM network.
A City Pass aimed at tourists offers an all-in package including free entry to 15 museums, a
boat trip to the Château d'If,
a trip to Notre-Dame de la Garde on the Petit Train and unlimited travel on the metro, buses and tramways.
It is valid for one or two days. Book the Marseille City pass online here.
During the conference, an access to the wireless campus network will be available to the delegates.
This network covers the whole campus area.
The wifi code will be included in your registration pack.
Staff and students of French education and research institutions can use their eduroam access.

Accommodation
For your arrival at TENOR2021 in Marseille we recommend you to book your hotels as soon as possible.
We also recommend you to choose a hotel close to the city center, since social evening events will take place in this area.
Halfway between conference location (31 chemin Joseph Aiguier) and concerts place (Friche la Belle de Mai) could also be a good choice.
These two places are spaced 6 kms, which takes around 50' by public transportation.
We here propose a list of hotels that are close to public transports stations. No commercial agreements have been concluded with these hotels.
You can find the location of the hotels on the map above by checking the line: "Hotel proposal list"
